Verruca/Wart Treatment
Verruca / Wart Treatment
All verruca treatments begin with debridement. Debridement allows for any overlying dead skin cells to be removed. Once these cells have been removed topical verruca treatment can then be applied, in turn allowing topical treatment to be more effective.
Salicylic Acid - salicylic acid is a keratolytic agent. When this agent is applied to a verruca, it will cause the surface of the verruca tissue to break down until it gradually peels and lifts a way.
Silver Nitrate - Repeated applications of silver nitrate can induce adequate destruction of verrucaes when applied. The application of silver nitrate is additionally used to cauterise superficial blood vessels. These can be found within the verrucaes (they appear as tiny black dots).
